Training Courses for Polished/Venetian Plaster and Paint Effects by Independent Training Specialist

Our purpose built training studio and showroom is the ideal environment to lean the artisan skills needed for the application of lime based Venetian plaster.

In the two day course you will learn the right primer to use for various substrates and a general overview of unsuitable substrates (these are mainly things to look for regarding poor construction or unsuitable building practices) but in order not to over burden your brain with unlikely imponderables this will be kept brief with an assurance of technical help with potential projects only a phone call away for new applicators.

The seven boards you take away will have different finishes such as Raffaello Stucco, Madreperlato, Cocio Antico, Tintoreto, Pasta Media, Marmorino, Naturale, Travertino, Travertino Venezla, Levigato and Hemp.

Before the course the trainees can see walls and sample boards of the above finishes and subject to availability and drying constraints can choose one finish each of the seven boards they will learn and also whether or not to learn the banding techniques to achieve stunning results in a contemporary style (this will reduce the number of sample boards you take away because you may have up to three finishes on one board). The products we use are Impex, SL and Oikos all imported from Italy.

Sealing and Waxing

Depending on what finishes have been chosen (four by the trainees and three by the tutor) various forms of surface protection are available and will be demonstrated and applied by the trainees on their own boards if dry enough or on boards made ready for this purpose by the tutor prior to the course.

Internal and external Corners

All trainees get the chance to practice on internal and external corner details during the course.
Chief instructor John Boyle has over the past seven years applied many thousands of metres in some stunning locations using innovative designs to utilise these products to great effect which you can see on the photo shop display in the showroom

Masking

Masking and protection is a very important aspect of this type of work especially in the domestic environment, we have access to a vast array of products, coupled with the tips and tricks learnt over many years, these items and tips will give you the confidence to approach any project in a professional manner and ensure ease of operation with no mishaps.
Products include low tack clean line masking tapes, self adhesive carpet protection on handed masking machines, gummed edge masking paper and much more.
A time slot is allocated to cover this very important aspect which includes laser line levelling for certain techniques.
